I have been wondering why I haven't gotten it, but they did. When I read this today I realized this may be part of the answer. I've taken a minimal (20 mcg.) dose of selenium for decades, as I had read about it in cancer research back then (my mother died of cancer). Neither of them does. I also supplement Vitamin D, zinc, and Vitamin C, so confounders. Almost anytime I see the words "relative risk" my antennae start quivering. As for Mendelian randomization, from my perspective (as a nobody) it's yet another example of how statistical interpretation is built on an increasingly rickety structure that will collapse if anyone looks at a cross-eyed.

Also, I'm making careful note of George's line "Inflammation may play a causal role via upstream effectors rather than the downstream marker CRP." Consequently the drugs, even when they do work, cannot put these deficits right and can even make them worse, making us take more drugs for side effects, with further risk of toxicity or severe drug withdrawal effects."

That's an excellent description not just of the mental health establishment but the medical establishment as a whole.cavenewthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08461541719892430585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550919611653842066.post-39906275346350461202021-04-25T06:55:12.554-07:002021-04-25T06:55:12.554-07:00Galina, maybe this will help. https://hopefulgeran...Galina, maybe this will help. https://hopefulgeranium.blogspot.com/search/label/Is%20a%20Diet%20High%20in%20Saturated%20Fat%20Good%20for%20the%20Liver%3Fcavenewthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08461541719892430585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550919611653842066.post-69064806391403875442021-04-18T11:21:31.411-07:002021-04-18T11:21:31.411-07:00Thank you for the thought-provoking article. It's been rather striking, to me anyway, how originally the lockdowns were to "flatten the curve" and take pressure off hospitals, and then morphed somehow into an effort to prevent *every single infection*. There seems to have been collective amnesia about the transition.

As a US citizen not intimately familiar with New Zealand's recent history, can you please clarify for me, whether the statement is referring specifically to Covid lockdowns or just more recent NZ attitude toward immigration*:

"And so New Zealand went, overnight, from being a society where any expression of concern about immigration numbers for any reason was automatically flagged as “racist” and shouted down, to being the most “Build the Wall!” society on earth, a Hermit Kingdom jealously guarding its borders, with those members of society most progressive in normal times tending to be most vocal in defence of the new isolationism and any other restrictive measure needed to eliminate risk."

* aside from Lord of the Rings movies, what I mostly know about New Zealand is that 1. Fried rice and rice-lentil mixes like samosas are sold by roadside vendors, white sugar is everywhere; he describes a diet of white or beige carb fried up with soy oil, sometimes flavoured with butter, and often washed down with rum. It's a low protein, high energy diet and apart from the rum not dissimilar to Pacific island diabetogenic diet of white starch, sugar and oil. Also similar to the diet causing diabetes in Tuva (bread fried in oil, sprinkled with sugar, washed down with vodka). Blackfoot is a common condition there - black gangrenous feet and a white face on normally dark-skinned people.Puddleghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00953398103675945541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8550919611653842066.post-38440342711114340602021-01-16T20:42:39.790-08:002021-01-16T20:42:39.790-08:00Finally came across Dr. Fleming's real CV. He ...Finally came across Dr. Fleming's real CV. He presented the 46 page monstrosity on 9/11/09 as part of his legal flailing after his felony conviction.

In it, he answers many of the questions he would not directly address in our discussions above and elsewhere, namely:

He has undergraduate degrees from Northern Iowa in General Science, Biology, Psychology. and a minor in Chemistry. Graduated in 1980. He did one year graduate studies in Psychology under his mentor Dr. Gordon Harrington. He graduated from medical school in 1986 and did his residency from 1987-89, then his cardiology fellowship 1989-92. Most of this is roughly consistent with the story he's spun.

However, there is no mention of a PhD in Physics; there is a high school physics competition in 1973-4, which was what I was guessing based on the dates from his exaggerated online CV. So he has been misrepresenting himself as a PhD in most of his recent research papers, cringey YouTube videos, and terrible eBooks.

The real CV also clarifies that the Fleming Heart Health Institute (1999-2004) and the Camelot Foundation (2000-2005) are no longer operating. He has been misrepresenting his institutional affiliation in his research papers and on the US clinical trial website. That study is discussed here: https://retractionwatch.com/2020/05/29/a-convicted-felon-wants-people-to-enroll-in-a-covid-19-clinical-trial-what-could-go-wrong/

No major surprises for me, but I'm happy to have him set the record straight in his court filings if not anywhere else.

For the curious, I have posted a modestly redacted version of the CV on Google Drive https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bDa4x9MKWRDQ5XRcce52qCZVjOVHDBWK/view?usp=sharing (if it works)Regrethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08800406831811126025noreply@blogger.com
